On February 11th at the Oriental Theater in Denver, MetByFate placed second in the band category at the Colorado Solo Artists Awards! The boys blistered through 30 minutes of their original music. They introduced a great new song called "Highway Burn" and brought the crowd to a fevered pitch with set closer "The Moment". Playing with the band for the first time was lead guitarist Steve Crower. Steve had only 4 days to learn and prep for the gig. He nailed it. Bringing a new lead style and true professionalism to the stage. We haven't seen the last of Mr. Crower, I'm quite sure of that. As part of the win, MBF received 5 hours of studio time. I expect it will be used to record some of the killer new tunes that they have been rocking live for us lately. Who wants to hear studio versions of "The Moment" or "Highway Burn"? I know I do!
Stay tuned folks...

MetByFate enjoying Studio Time @ House in Motion Studios
The boys in MetByFate are truly having a blast as they finally get to record the music that they have been writing together over the past three plus years. We caught up with the boys after their latest session at House In Motion Studios and asked about the new record.
How is recording going guys?
Tracy: "The record is coming together nicely. Derrick is a true pro and the facility is a beauty. I'm loving the drum sound he is getting for me."
Steve: "Derrick is a longtime friend and it just so happens he set up his studio in my old neighborhood. I feel like it was meant to be. I'm so impressed with the recording so far and with facility itself. Working with Derrick is great fun and he knows his stuff."
Is it true that we will finally get to hear Steve's keyboard work?
Tracy: "Yessir! At least on one song for sure, right Steve?
Steve: "That's right. We are recording my song Flight of the Dragons (in C major) which I wrote for my wife. Not sure what other songs are getting keys at this point, but yes, there will be keys."
Tracy: "I'm so ready for everyone to hear these songs! We have some great new stuff that is gonna blow ya'll away! We are so excited to have the Blue Collar Rejects join us in the studio. They are such cool guys and incredible musicians."
I'm told we can expect a late summer release for the self-titled debut of MetByFate and that it will have around 9 songs of all original material. Included will be their signature song Sea Level To Mile High as well as Chasin' The Rain and One More Day. There will be acoustic stuff and full band arrangements that, yes you heard it here first folks, will include guest appearances by members of another Denver band you may have heard of called the Blue Collar Rejects.
We can't wait to sink our teeth into this new disc. Be sure to check back here at metbyfate.com to stay informed on all matters MetByFate, including more updates on the recording sessions.
FIRST GIG OF 2017 A FUN ONE
Our first chance to catch the boys of MetByFate live in 2017 was at what they refer to as their "home away from home", Merchant's Mile High Saloon! On January 14th the band had a good gig, despite both guys being under the weather. Yep, MMHS loves MetByFate and the band feels the same way!
More dates coming soon, so plan to check back here and come out and jam to some great MetByFate original tunes and , of course, some killer rock classics!
STEVE BENDER WINS BEST KEYBOARDIST
MetByFate founding member Steve Bender has won the inaugural Colorado Rock Award for Best Keyboardist!!
Big congrats to Keyboardist/Guitarist/Singer Steve Bender for winning Best Keyboardist!
Steve's and Tracy's work in their former band the Tim Huston Project, lead to both of their nominations for Rock Awards. Steve's win is an incredible accomplishment and well deserved. His work in THP took that band's sound to a whole new level, changing their sound completely.
Many MetByFate fan's only know Steve for his guitar playing and vocals.
(The truth is, he started out a drummer!)
MetByFate co-founder Tracy Brinkley said "Steve is a musical talent like no other I have met. He is more than a musician and my musical brother. He is a musical fucking force to be reckoned with! Keys, vocals, guitar, drums, lyricist... what can't he do? He SO deserves this accolade! He inspires and informs my musical soul. I am so proud of Steve's win and to have created MetByFate with him."
So next time you see MetByFate or run into Steve, be sure to congratulate him. And BTW, rumor has it that we may just be hearing Steve's key work at an upcoming MetByFate gig...stay tuned!
